ideal crystal Chem.
A single crystal with a perfectly regular lattice that contains no impurities, imperfection or other defects.

ideal gas Chem.
A hypothetical gas that obeys the universal gas equation of pV = nRT (p=pressure, V=volume, T=temperature, R=gas constant and n is the amount of gas in the system). An ideal gas molecule would consist of particles that occupy negligible volume of space and have negligible forces of interaction between them. All collisions between the gas particles and the walls of the system container are purely elastic. There are no other forms of energy except the translational kinetic energy.

In reality, most gases do not obey the universal gas equation except those that closely resemble the ideal gas behavior such as small inert gasses neon and argon.

ideal solution Chem.
See Raoult's Law.
